This is another image inspired by Elam and is of a character who appeared in my November 2008 novel...
The Dragon in this image seems to have some designs on becoming the Creator of the Universe but must devour in order to achieve this power. In the novel the character Dragon is named Iakam Byrn and, while not quite so lusty perhaps, has unerring confidence in the right to the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which he has claimed. Yet in the end I think he leaves the planet, and discovers in himself a sort of respect for the prey which desires not to be eaten and to have its own life.

This is my Water Dragon and his game.
I drew this back in November after running away from Elam's. Since, in November, I wrote a novel that freed me from the compulsion to return, but even lacking that I am as yet confused because every other path I can possibly take right now is equally nauseating except the one frustratingly unopen to me.

All the chaotic energy in the background is intentional... such is life, attempting to resist God's attempts to utterly destroy me (first Spokane, now this?).

Another piece of the 'story line' from the previous picture...

The yang and yin of my psychological depths, Rossi and Misht Soloi. The magnetism they hold for each other is matched and overpowered only by the Love of their common Source generated in their eventual union.
I don't know why Misht has blood furies, but I find them compellingly attractive in her company.

I'm not entirely sure what this is of. Not too long ago I had a story idea I was playing around with involving Rossi and Misht Soloi, and this is based on that. The theme had something to do with two beings of far differing energy (which Rossi and Misht certainly are), their attraction to and hatred of each other, and ultimately the role that their partnership would play in the world.

Dragon yoga on Maui is done on volcanic rocks on the beach. This mixes every element--ocean, earth, sunlight, wind--and is best for mana flow.

Lots of inspiration for this one... although my technique when it comes to making convincing waves could use a little work, I feel as though I finally captured something real again in art. It has been a while...

A painting I have done since coming back to Bellingham. It's Misht Soloi, of course... I do not know if that which she is perched on is a volcano, or the Jaws of Hell (it kind of looks like a jaw with teeth..) or what else, but I like it, nonetheless. It's probably finished--at the least, I probably won't do anything more with it.

I took a quick break from commission work to throw some color on this pencil sketch. The ground is from a photo and the rest is rather sloppy, but I wanted to do more with this sketch than leave it a sketch. It's me, and Misht Soloi, and the rest is probably self-explanatory...

Very old sketch... from sometime last summer. It was in Kasethen's sketchbook, which is why it never got up here. I really like it--it was illustrative of the only time I ever had the feeling that Misht allowed me to embrace her.

This was a commission piece for a birthday present. The birthday in question (Kilanon) was on March 10th, so I went with a Pisces/watery theme. I particularly like this character and this piece--both are very magical. I very much enjoyed drawing him. Happy birthday, Kilanon!

This is a commission piece. A sea nymph has just turned a diver into a manta-ray mermaid. I wanted to do bubbles, but I couldn't figure out how in the GIMP on my Mac... ah well perhaps next time--I have another 'sea' commission coming up.

Rossi has started a trend!

Ah... well. I'm not exactly sure what inspired this one. It's me and my friend Kasethen/Eric/Erik. We are not Dragons here, so that the image may speak of the magnitude of human potential.

This was actually drawn facing the other direction, but of course I had to flip it so it would be all lefty. I'm really happy with how it came out; the shading, the colors...

So much of strangeness has happened to me lately... I think I'm only now beginning to feel the real effects of the exorcism I had last Friday. And who came back into my mindscape (it's been a long time since I've seen him around) but Rossi? Rossi with a new spark in his eye. Mostly, these days, it's been Vifernin, but Vifernin is an image whereas Rossi is more of a relationship. It's hard to say what the difference is these days. I wrote today, and drew, because of his inspiration, and this is what I drew.

It's amazing to me how much I have grown and changed and thus so has Rossi--even in the background. The 'left-hand path' theme I am illustrating with him here (inspired by a short story we wrote on an old theme of Catholic priest renegade) is, by Church standards, probably rather demonic, but the way I see it is more what happens to one when one falls into the hands of the living God (and I mean really falls). God is a terrifying thing.

The best analogy I can give for the left-hand path in pop culture would probably be the movie 'The Matrix'. Not three days ago I realized that that movie was real and true, if metaphorical. This dream we are living in is not reality, and we can, like Neo, learn its programming, its code, and influence it as we like. The Matrix strikes me as a story about the world we live in, under powers that fight to keep us asleep, and the magnitude of human potential (with a little Savior/the One taste thrown in). The Matrix... reminds me very much of Carlos Castaneda's books.

And of course, it's doubly appropriate, because of the Red Dragon, which Vifernin is anyway...

This one was actually supposed to be the more kundalini-themed one (hence the fire around the baby, which is kind of representative of the potential of new life, maybe). It was another image I had in church that felt very comforting to me--dragons and babies and me, and safety and belonging and purpose. Hmm who knows... I'm not entirely happy with this drawing, it looks a bit contrived... I wanted it to be more kundalini ish but then I made the baby bigger so it could be seen.

This was inspired by an image my dad gave me when he made me promise not to see Erik until I'd talked to somebody. Apparently when I was young someone in child services asked me what I thought each of my family members was, and of my father I said he was a dragon, protecting its brood. 'I'm the Dragon' my dad said to me. It intrigued me so much and made me feel cosmically watched over (and thus strong enough and together enough to actually keep my promise). And I drew this. I don't like how I draw baby Dragons at all. But it's still cute.
