Desert Rose
Desert Rose by @Jinx (Catherine Fitzsimmons)

Look, I did actual art, not some stupid picture of a character just posing. I cry because she had fur before it went monochrome.

WOOOW! O_O

Thank you for your comment on my picture, but your picture (as well as the rest of your gallery) deserves a lot of praise. I'll say it again, wooow! It is such a beautiful picture, I can't possibly say all the things I like about it. One thing though, I love how you put her in a red dress, it makes her stand out nicely against the dark background. Everything is very well shaded, and there is so much texture in the picture that it makes it so interesting. She looks to be dancing, and you've captured her movement well. GREAT job!

Cripes. This is amazing... I think her fur is perfect, and her colors are even more perfect! And I -love- the desert background, how you made it look all grainy like sand... wow. I LOOOVIES.

I love it! I like the way she looks like she is really moving and it outside of the background yet in it...if that makes sense...good job! What paint program did you use?

Thanks! I'm glad she flows with the background like that and doesn't stand out completely from it. To answer your question, this was inked in Paint Shop Pro 6 and colored in Photoshop 5.5. Thanks again for commenting!

Wow, Jinx... absolutely gorgeous. I am so impressed. Desert Rose is really a perfect song for this image... The pose reminds me of Native American artwork, I think it's in the shape of the face. I love the scarf, and the colors on this are absolutely gorgeous. It definetly looks like she was caught in midmotion. My fave part is the widescreen effect. That is just TOO AWESOME. The sands are wonderful, and the starry sky contrasts so nicely with the red. Definetly a really awesome piece. I'm really, really impressed.

I like the image a lot, but the red is so bright it throws the image into an umbalanced state. Though the concept is wonderful and original. Perhaps, if the figure was centered it would be more balanced. Or, if you were to add more red on the left side, it would make a triangle of red, which is known to hold art pieces togeather. Even without perfect balance (which was hard for me to notice in the first place) It is a wonderful, well composed piece.

Wow, I absolutely love the desert in the background of this. I've done a couple of desert drawings before, and It's very hard to pull off the sort of grainy technique you used here. Awesome job on it, and the coloring of the clothing. It makes it look so alive @@

I love the contrast of textures and the use of negative space. Maybe it's just me, but her nose looks a little strange, as if she's missing her bottom jaw. I love the backround, and the way the values balance on either side of the pic. Bravo!!

I love the movement, you dipicted her as if she was in midstep of her dance. Beautiful highlights on the dress, it really looks like there is actually a body under that dress and I love how the fabric almost seems to cling to her figure. Great job on the fur too, and just the character herself is beautiful, she is so graceful and elegant. I ususlally am not too much into furries because I find that people make them look a little rough sometimes, but she has none of that blukness I sometimes find in other people's characters. The background is amazing too, I have to note this, I really love how the clouds look around the moon, everything seems to be bathed in moonlight, it creates a wonderful effect. It's interesting though how most of your picture has subtle tones of grey and blue, but her dress is bright crimson, it seems to almost jump out at you from the picture, was that intentional? Because if it was, congradulations, it worked really well!

Ahh, I really like the background. The clouds are my favorite part... and it's interesting to see a character dancing in the middle of a desert. ;) Well done!
