More playing, with brush and ink this time. And my new bottle of red ink. Yay.

She could be Gem, but who knows?

Now I'm REALLY curious about how you use ink. With water? A brush? This looks very, very cool, and I am especially impressed with the shading. If you did this ALL with one bottle of red ink (though I think I see black in there, too?) I am truly impressed with your skills to make the ink go from dark red to pink. The pose in this picture is also quite nice, her expression is so soft and gentle. Please let me know anything you can about ink. I'll love you forever--really.

Alas, I don't really "know" any thing about ink. It's one of those things you have to goof around with to get an understanding of :P

Yes, there is red and black here, and it's almost entirly washes (ink + water to varying degrees) I used a thin brush and a thick one. It's just like water color mostly; you just build layers until you get what you want.

You'd be surprised--that WAS really helpful. So, because I'm in debt up to my eyeballs right now, I just can practice with shading with watercolors to get used to using a brush and layering like that, and then I'll try ink. Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to reply to me--It means a lot! And yes, I think you DO know something about ink, after all!

hey cool. this does look a lot like gem, even though there are no tell-tale signs of it, like a magic healing staff or hawaiian clothes. in fact, I hearby declare this to be Gem, at least in my imagination and I'm sticking this in my FF28 folder. maybe she did some art class modeling before joining the team... ( oooh! fun idea ^_^ )

anyhoo, cool shading on this pic. very nice use of color.
