Halflife (Superposition of a Decaying Atom in its' Season of Renewal)
Halflife (Superposition of a Decaying Atom in its' Season of Renewal) by @wolfvayne (Laura Russell)

What a title eh?! I cause quantum troublesomes with this one...

Half-life is a calculation of how fast a mass of atoms will decay - the rule being that half the atoms in any substance will decay over a certain period of time. When an atom decays, it can change into a whole new element. This is my ultimate symbol of birth-rebirth. It is absent of biological factors, and yet it is absolutely inevitable. I have caught this normally spontaneous process only a few seconds before the nucleus sheds its' skin.

Also check out the detail shots because it is pretty huge: http://www.iownthesun.com/art/halflife_det.html

This is my own little entry for the epilogue.net Seasons Of Renewal competition :]

Oh wow! This is absolutely stunning! All of the details are breathtaking, and I love how you've incorporated color so that the viewer's eye is drawn to different areas of the work! I also like how, even though it is a nucleus, the part of it that has been "shed" looks almost like a human torso. Out of curiosity, what medium did you use to create this piece?

Good luck in the contest! :D

I love the shapes in this, and the seperation of the fore and background is really something! After looking at the close ups... What are the dimentions of this?? The detail is encredable and really draws you into it!
