Ack, poor guy :x He's certainly taking it well, as you stated ;P I love the style of this piece, particularly your inks. The way the hair flows is lovely, and I like the detailing in his outfit. I would expect to see a little more gore on that stick after something like that, but I understand why you wouldn't want to go to extremes with it ^^
