The younger brother of Vieka, Kayj was favored by his mother as a child. He grew up playing with his father's knives and tools, from which he got his love for weapons. At the age of 10, he was playing with his cousin when they began to fight. In a fit of rage, Kayj pulled out a knife he had stolen from his father and stabbed his cousin to death. The king's knights came to take him away to be hanged, but his mother, blind to the reality of her son's crime, defended him so fiercely, they gave up and left. If only they had succeeded in their task, they would have gotten rid of the one who would eventually destroy the kingdom itself.

After doing a lot of mostly illegal stuff, he was finally killed by Laicrist, but reincarnated in the Darkness Shrine as a snake.
