Breaking Free from a Mortals' Immortal Beliefs
Breaking Free from a Mortals' Immortal Beliefs by @laursefc (Lauren Sefchik)

This was my third character concept for our 'Rhythm Strike' game. He was an inspiration mixture of KoEnma (Yu Yu Hakushou), Son Goku (Gensoumaden Saiyuki), Farfarello (Weiss Kruez) and...a few other wired bishounen that I can't remember. In any case, I've already had my good friend Tiffiny claim utter ownership of him already. It seems like Nicholas Parker has a bit of competition.

In any case, in a way, Loki is a sub-creation of my inner "issues" with organized religion. Basically he was named after the Norse god of Mischief, his mother was murdered, and he went crazy. The church decides to keep him under lock and key, and eventually he breaks free to fight in the tournament. There's a lot more to it that's in greater detail; but I won't delineate further in case I offend some people further.

My teammates were having major issues with the pacifier in his mouth. They actually liked him though (which is surprising because the one who liked him most is a WWF FANTATIC and hates anime...but he was also the one having the major issues with the pacifier). But it represents the only thing he had left of his mother, so he's kept it for all his life.

He's actually a very sensitive boy who just feels neglected and misunderstood (despite the fact that he acts like a schitzophrenic lunatic half the time). In the game, if you play him, he ends up growing an affection towards Risu because of unknown reasons that he doesn't find out until the end.

Anyway, enough blathering. Medians used were colored pencil, Prisma Markers and ink (only for half of him... ^_^*). Artwork © Copyright 2002 Lauren Sefchik

I'm liking this one a lot. He's sounds reallllly interesting & I wanna know more! The picture it's self is very stunning. Nice calm humble colours, then at a closer look one can see the whole "punk" attitude going on. Very casual yet self assured pose, seems to fit his personality very well. Nicely detailed, a little hard to see due to the glow effect but it's probably my bad eyes. As for the binki... keep it. Lightens up his attitude. ^^ Love it. -Kinabaki

As always, I love your comments Kini-san! LOL Yea, he's a lil' punkie in that respect. The reason why you can't see him all that much is the combination of subdued colors trying to work with their own medians rather than a bold ink job is the reason why things are fading. But like I said, I have issues with inking. For some reason, my median combinations are so natural rather than just a straight-up color, that when I put black ink on the colored product, it looks like the outline is going to get up and bite you in the face while the COLORED aspects look like they're running away from you. It looks horrid and tacky to me, so I'm still in search of my most favorite (and harmonious) median combination. Until then...I'm afraid that my artwork will continue to look only half completed. ~_~*
