Thanks for the comment! Yeah, a few lines are off with the perspective. I should try to keep better vanishing points next time. Right now I have the lights set as the bars in the ceiling. I'm pondering if I should have them run along the corridor instead. And yes, I think Manual Override is an underused property in Sci-Fi! XD
Arkasti Concept: Starship Corridors by @digoraccoon (Diosden Rodriguez)
Concepts in practical starship design. This is a smattering of several ideas put together. The goal is to design a starship (With technology no farther than 25 years out) that can sustain a crew comfortably for a 6 month long voyage through interstellar space.
The "floor" of these zero-gravity corridors are lined with metal plates. The Arkasti lady on the left is wearing fashionable magnetic boots that allow her to stick to the floor she walks on. Meanwhile the Arkasti girl on the right floats through the corridor using the railings found along the upper and lower length of the corridor.
And yes, there is a manual door crank behind that panel labeled "Manual". I believe in a mechanical back up in case something goes wrong during the trip.
I've been meaning to comment on this for a while. I really like the way you designed this corridor; it's a very simplistic yet detailed method and a good use of perspective, although that one line running behind the character on the left looks a little odd. Most of the implements in the picture give this corridor a practical look. And manual override = saving yourself or someone else from getting vacuumed.
