Ablain St-Nazaire Cemetery
Ablain St-Nazaire Cemetery by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)

Side view of Notre Dame de Lorette Chapel, Ablain St-Nazaire Military Cemetery, France. Ablain St-Nazaire is the largest French military cemetery in the world; I did not realize how large the grounds actually were before researching this annotation, and the photographs I took encompass only a small portion of the area. It is the resting place of 40 057 casualties, most from the First World War, as well as 6 graves from the Second World War, an unknown soldier of the French-Indochina conflict, an unknown soldier of the French-North African conflict, 64 Russians, 1 Belgian, and 1 Romanian.

Original photo taken March 2007. Uploaded to DeviantArt May 2012.
