Whenever I get a dvd or something 💿

I'm thinking of getting some dvds, then rip them and post the original file to the internet archive. I have a Cd bag too, so I'll put the dvds in there.

(I say a dvd player since my laptop doesn't have a cd drive, which is lame imo)

Oh yeah, remember when buying software at the store gave you a physical disk and not just a download code for [insert cloud service here]? Tech stores used to have whole shelves devoted to printed manuals... I can't imagine how a neophyte would use a computer these days on dial-up, let alone no Internet at all.

@Thorvald: If I used dial up internet, it would be a pain for it to load. I almost forgot that there's external Cd drives with a usb port, and I found some from Amazon.

@N0-11: I'm assuming your laptop is an ultralight? Floppies' extinction was understandable, but CD drives are one of those features I would think should remain standard for at least a few more decades... D:

@Thorvald: Yeah, but tech companies always make brain dead "upgrades" for their stuff.

I just need a usb disc drive still, because of coarse I have to. 😑

@N0-11: That reminds me of something I heard maybe a decade ago that car companies had accumulated so many features, in order to justify new models they started cutting them. HAV - Louis-Joseph de Montcalm-Gozon

@Thorvald: Cutting features just sound like a horrible idea, imo.

@N0-11: To quote that one episode of ReBoot Abridged (RIP):

"Where are the brakes?!"
"General Motors had to cut back on standard features in their vehicles due to the recession."
