My Spot
My Spot by @Ratty (Lindsey Phillips)

This image was created in early June of 2001. I have a place in my hometown that looks exactly like the backgroud of this image. I call it "My Spot" and I go to it every so often to relax and recoup. It's so beautiful. I will dearly miss it when I move to North Dakota in August. For more info about this picture, see my June fourth entry on my LiveJounal.

Good expression and the background is solid. Your biology is fine, I think, although the muscle tone look just a little questionable. Foliage is good, distancing is also quite impecable. The only question I have, did you work from a picture, or from memory?

Actually neither. I was sitting on that very rock that Ratty is sittiing on when I drew the sketches of the canyon wall. I moved farther away to capture the foreground while adding Ratty in as well. I was still learning color mixing with Prismacolors, so the canyon walls are drawn much too red than they actually are. For it's time (Early summer 2001) this peice was my pride and joy because it was the first detailed background I drew. Sure it's eally not all that detailed at all but for being my first jump into doing full compositions instead of floating subjects, I think I did alright. Most of my recent works are to large to scan so I have not updated this gallery as I should have.

Thank you for taking time to comment on my image. :)

Wow, the waterfall it really amazing. The ushes and suck look really realisticthe way they're sort of draped, and the expresion on Ratty's face is so fitting. I especially like her feet for some reason, perhaps because I so severely can't draw feet that well. The only thing that bothers me is the way the neck is seamless to the head, because it looks like it's the same dimensions. Oh, her hair is cute too. ^_^ (I had the hardest time spelling the word hair for a moment. lol)
