I didn't think of a specific story for this scene, but a common theme in Renzo's life is getting into unintentional altercations with people due to his tendency to be innocuously "nice" or helpful, despite trying to stay out of peoples' business. Ronin dude probably got mad at Renzo over something dumb like picking up something he knocked over on purpose, or maybe standing up for someone that ronin dude was threatening, lol.
