Kael Boeric Arcturus
Kael Boeric Arcturus by @Bad_Mojo (Jonathan P)

Wow, it's been a long time since I uploaded anything. I've recently started doing (and managing) some forum-based RPing, mostly based on the FFRPG ruleset, and this is my character. His species is from FF9 (Burmecian), but he's entirely my creation. Once I finally decided how I wanted it to look, it took about thirty minutes from pencil to ink. I still have to add some definition to the shirt he's wearing (I may give him a cloak as well) and I've got to color him, too . . . but this is more-or-less how the finished product will look.

Ah, but who IS Kael? He's the son of a one-armed dragoon and a Cleyran maiden, that's who! Born in a library, this travelling monk is always curious about the world around him - but he's not naive. He's got a staff with blades that can extend from either end, creating a swallow-type weapon. C'mon, now, you KNOW you want one!

If anyone's curious, I'm LancerZero on the Side7 forums, and I have a thread with the site's address in it in the Shameless Plugs section if anyone wants to check it out. All are welcome!

Nice picture here. I love the hair and it's neat to see a Burmecian fancharacter. I like the simplicity of this picture and the angle of the head is nicely drawn, though the muzzle looks a little long and big and the angle of the far eye looks off. Otherwise, it's nice work. I look forward to seeing this finished.

Thanks for the comments! I wondered briefly if anyone would notice my resurfacing here . . . Simplicity is something I've never been good at, so it's nice to hear that the effort I've been applying towards that is paying off. You're right about the muzzle and the eye; I didn't want for him to look female - and since there's no visible jaw, the muzzle substitutes and males are supposed to have wider jaws. I overcompensated a bit, I think. The eye, as well; I need to practice more with the whole isometric viewpoint. Unfortunately, I did this on a pocket sketchpad, so it won't get any larger; that is, it won't expand to include any background or any more of his body. It was originally intended as a character sketch to use as an avatar, but it turned out a bit too big for that.

Again, thanks for commenting!
