Bishoujo styled 'Alice'
Bishoujo styled 'Alice' by @tarysand (Taryn Sanders)

This started out as a practice sketch, but I liked it so much I had to ink and color it. I wanted to practice drawing a bishoujo (or really cutesy) styled young girl, so I just started drawing a face and eventually came up with this, and those who know me and 'Alice in Wonderland' know it's no accident that she ended up looking like her ^~
I'm extremely happy with this drawing ^^ It's cute, yet not TOO cute, and I'm happy with the shading. The only thing I don't really like about it is her nose, but that's how they draw them in anime'. Originally I wasn't going to make her dress blue since that's SO overdone, but I tried the blue and it looked so nice I decided to stick with it. It was supposed to be pink, but the blue just looked nicer. Oh, I also had it in yellow too. I can never make up my mind ^^;; (Just so there's no confusion, this is NOT supposed to be the Alice from the game, just the regular old one from the book. If she were the one from the game that would be very disturbing 0

HAH! Sucks to you, Hazel! I think it's supposed to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland, not American McGee's Alice!! Nyee hee hee! XDD

...but if it IS American McGees, I am thoroughly disturbed.

But I doubt it.

Once again, great pic!! Um, do you mind if I add you to my AIM buddy list thingo?

Awww!! She's so cute!! I love it! The pose and everything is just perfect! Although if you don't like the nose, arent there a few other ways to portray it?

What I like about this picture is that there are no anachronisms. Often you'll see an illustrated Alice with the dress up near her knees, which would be strictly taboo in the time that the book is set. You got the whole Victorian England look perfect. I also really like the colors.

-Kind Regards, Lucy Harrison.

ps. Ms. Sanders, did you ever consider perhaps doing your own illustrated version of Alice? You did great for illustrations on that Dib in Wonderland story, so why not try the original? Just a meek little suggestion. 'Bye!
