Dublin Jack finished painting
Dublin Jack finished painting by @Utlah (Utlah)

I acctually finished it! Whee! An oils on board painting of DJ:) This is probably my best portrait piece to date, of course there are parts that could have been better but I'm pretty pleased with it

Scuse that the photo is slightly at an angle, luckily it hasn't obviously distorted, there is also a little flash reflection on the bridle but its not too bad

WOW! That is REALLY good!! I always find it pretty hard to draw horses (getting the proportions right). Is that a pony? (it looks more like a pony than a horse to me). He looks like such a sweetie, but a bit sad in the painting (by the look in his eye). Well done, fantastic work! :)

I love the detail in this picture, the fur looks very real. Especially along the neck, the varying directions is so realistic. His eye is incredibly detailed, especially with all the eyelashes and shades incorporated - excellent job!!!

Excellent artwork of the horse! :D Very nicely detailed and quite realistic, too. Huge kudos to you!

Amazing lighting and texture. This horse just looks so soft, like I could reach in and pet his nose! I'm very impressed with the texture of the coat, versus the smooth leather of the bridle. The gentle shine in the eye really looks so very real.

I would only think the metal of the bridle should have brighter highlights, almost as bright as the eye highlight. Metals are so shiny, and that would make it stick out a little more, texture-wise, from the bridle.

I'm also impressed to see that you use oils. I really love paintings, and it's interesting to see someone who seems to be classically trained. Beautiful focal point towards the eye, and those soft blurred edges are really lovely.
