As George Lucas said, "Nothing is ever finished, just abandoned." Which is true, something can always be added or changed to a work to make it better. So I went back to this drawing of Kathryn and finished it. I fixed the swords she was holding. The original had her holding two single handed version of these, but I realized that'd be near impossible to use effectively and very hard to use as airfoils in flight. So I made her holding a single large twohanded version. I also finally added her legs in. This is a concept drawing, so I didn't make a background for it. I was kinda going for a Final Fantasy / Squaresoft-ish look for her in this pic. AE = artificial emotion.

[Original Description of the first version:::] The X-47 Storm, a high performance jet-pack designed by my character Kathryn Nienna Desmond, as depicted. I was determined to draw something this week, so by god, I did. I worked on this for almost seven straight hours. The lineart was completely drawn in Adobe Illustrator, and the CG was done in Abobe Photoshop.

The jetpack itself was very mecha-inspired, and the two things she's holding can be used as either swords or maneuvering devices in the air. She prefers to use them as an extra pair of maneuvering wings, becuase she dosen't particularly care for swordplay.

The graphic vector work on the top and bottom were the result of about an hour of tedious pen-tool-and-fill work, it added to the techy-ness of the pic, I say.

It felt good to make this image, since the last quality thing I made was "Shadow Fallen - Rith Guardian," that massive thing. It also felt good, because I finally have a good image of Kathryn, the last good image of her I had was drawn all the way back in October of 2001. Well, other than all of that, devaintart, hope you like this CG!

Very nice and professional looking. The colors of the characters clothes, surprisingly, fit quite well together. And you did such an awesome with designing the pack and maneuvering device, particularly with the reflections and the graphics embedded into either device.

I read through your explanation for this piece. You've put quite a bit of thought and time into this. Very admirable.
