For Our Future
For Our Future by @kidkourage (KidK Mirai)

'A slight breeze rustled the flags of the assembled throngs and there was the sound of muffled thuds as the nervous horses stamped the ground. All else was silent. Expectant. Amid the eerie quiet two figures stood, equal in height but like light and shadow in all other respects. All eyes were on them as they took their position at the head of the crowd of people.

"...are you ready for this, Pur?"

"As ready as I ever am for this kind of thing..."

"Good. It's all set. They move on our signal."

"Then let's do it."

There was only a brief pause. Then, as if able to perfectly anticipate each other's thoughts, the two drew their swords in unison. First the red-hilted claymore sliced out in front of the pair, then its royal purple counterpart rested on top of it. In one fluid motion, the warrior kings arced their blades upward, crossed--those same blades that had once been held by their distant namesakes. The rising sun flared on the silvery metal for an instant, and then--

"For the South!"

   "For Halel!"

              "For our children!"

   "For our future!"

"AND FOR KINGDOM KINGDOM!"

As one, the Tallest-Lords, each the other's mirror image, charged forth into battle.'

~-~-~

Just so. u.u; In the Castle RP, we're going to have another war, since the Southern Empire's been attacked by who knows what kind of evil force which managed to murder one of the Emperors and drive the other into hiding. So of course it's Kingdom Kingdom's Tallest-Lords to the rescue. XD;

I had a lot of fun coloring this, mostly because while it's a pain, metal is very fun to shade. o.@ Plus, I mean, swords. What's not to like about that? I really do love how Red and Purple are each other's opposites--it really shows, here, that Purple's the shadow to Red's light. You need both for balance and the world to work right. The reason for the sun and moon shields should be obvious symbolically, but it has some history behind it too; those swords and shields first belonged to the current Red and Purple's reeeeally far distant ancestors, who had the same names and were the founders of Kingdom Kingdom. Or at least, the original Red was the founder and the original Purple was his best friend and became his Second and Advisor. ...which was what our current Purple was supposed to have been for our current Red, except for that whole fiasco of Red not being as tall as expected. 9.9; So yeah, the image of Red and Purple looking just exactly like their namesakes is a pretty strong one, for them, and one that I tried to recreate here.

...Red's chain mail was originally going to be coppery-colored to keep with the whole sun king thing, but that ended with me yelling 'You look like a giant goldfish with legs, Red!!' and deleting the layer. XD; So they both have blackish gray mail. At any rate, I'm pretty proud of this, since it's got some good posing that I never thought I'd be able to reproduce from my mental image...

Okay I post now.

Wow O.O I must say that I am very impressed by this picture. The DRAMA is incredible, and so is the contrast! This is a very powerful and emotive piece. I love the insignias on the shields, too. ^.^ It really fits their personalities. Beautiful job!!!

Much and many thanks! Those are very great compliments, coming from you... I do try in everything I draw to get the emotion out--although that's a bit more difficult in my more comedic stuff--but this was one of few where I actually myself felt I hit the mark matching my mental image and getting the feeling across. =B; So I'm very very happy that you thought so too.
