Also, we get to see one of the reasons Smig flunked out of Invader School: he lacks the discretion needed to stay under-cover while infiltrating an alien society.

I'm not sure if Zim is getting too physical (putting his hand on Smig's shoulder) for an Irken, although he would probably feel less obliged to check himself around a shorter (and hence, lower-echelon) member of his species. They don't seem to be terribly social creatures.
