You’re My Champion

Jessie perked her head to the sound of a knock on the door.

“Come in,” she spoke, enshrouding the congestion in her nose.

The door flew open with an animated Meowth jumping and dancing blissfully, and an enervated James followed from behind. He leisurely walked to Jessie cupping the ribbon with his right hand while holding his Poke ball in the other. His whole body ached, and his eyes were on the brink of shutting down. He didn’t want to partake in the Pokemon contest in the first place, but he did so anyway. He didn’t want to let his companion down and let her leave Lilypad Town empty-handed. He did it for his one and only Jessica with grit and determination.

James opened her hands and placed the ribbon between her palms, and closed her hands, cupping them firmly.

“Here you go, Jess,” he said in a hoarse tone, smiling while holding back a yawn.

She gradually opened her hands and saw the ribbon she yearned for before her cold loomed over her; a smile brushed across her face.

“Ya got tree ribbons now,” Meowth beamed, hopping on the kotatsu.

“Waaaaaabuffeeeeeet!” Wobbuffet saluted.

“I wuv you soooooo much, ribbon-chan,” Jessie cooed, rubbing it against her cheek.

Unfortunately for James, exhaustion won and tumbled on Jessie’s sleeping bag, and his Jessilina wig and glasses replicas fell out, but luckily, he still had the Poke ball in his other hand. She flinched and shrieked, and Meowth fell off the kotatsu.

“OH MY GOD, JAMES!”

Meowth got on his feet and ran to him, flicking a strand of James’s hair and staring at his gaping mouth.

“Dang, he’s out cold.”

A mixture of jealousy and empathy boiled through Jessie. Disgust tingled her heart, and she knew damn well she wanted to consume all the attention, and seeing James devour more attention than her made her pissed, beyond pissed. Besides her envy, however, she felt grateful that he participated in her disguise and won that ribbon for her, despite him being the coward he is. Even though Jessie tries her hardest to avoid her true feelings for James, she knows he’ll do anything for her, and she’ll do anything for him.

Sighing and smiling, she lay down on her sleeping bag. She placed her hand over James’s head, rubbing his hair gingerly.

“Thank you, James,” Jessie hummed. “You’re my champion.”

She leaned in and gave him a gentle peck on his cheek. Shortly after the kiss, she squeaked and jerked her head away from him, covering her mouth with her hand, and her face blushed a deep red; Meowth gasped loudly, and Wobbuffet fainted.

Holy crap! Did I just kiss him?!

“Heeheheheheheheeee.”

Jessie looked at Meowth and fixated on the sly look on his face.

“Looks like somebody is finally showin’ her true colors.”

Wobbuffet got up and mimicked Meowth’s facial expression.

“Waaaabuffeeeet.”

Jessie clutched her fist and growled until she heard a supple moan from James. She turned, and chills slammed down her spine as she noticed his hand was over hers. His head pressed against her hip and moaned again. She stared at his smile; she never saw a smile so big before. Jessie laid down again and held James’s hand while holding the ribbon in the other. She gave him another kiss, this time on the forehead, and soon, her eyes fluttered closed.
