Delerium- progress by @Lyrae (Alison Didzena)

I still have this floating around in my sketchbook. But I feel I will be needing assistance finishing this picture of him.

I am unsure how to go about filling in his clothing and if I should use some sort of pattern design on the backround (this scan focuses mainly on the character, the actual picture is wider but all the space is just black)

Any ideas? I'm not going to colour this as I would normally, I'm trying my hand at plain black and white pictures. : 3

I'm free to any suggestions, seriously. : ) I won't bite.

~ 2-4 hours thus far, black pens and markers on sketchbook paper.
