Critters 39b: Cerberus adult
Critters 39b: Cerberus adult by @VioletWhirlwind (Violet Whirlwind)

Old stuff first. Getting into better critters now.

Been wanting to draw one of these guys for a while now. Adult cerberus. This guy's BIG. Took up a full 8 1/2 x 11 sketchbook page to draw. It is deceptively hard to draw something with three heads well. You have to make each head contact the body at the same point, and in effect, almost give them three chests, sorta. I tried to make this critter look like a cross between a wolf, a hyena, and a rottweiler. With sabre fangs. Everything is cooler with sabre fangs. :D The vangs also have jaw-sheaths. The fangs were less apparent in the younger stages, as they have not fully grown until the cerberus reaches adulthood. The adolecent had the beginings of sabres, but no jaw-sheaths for them at that time. Anyway, the cerberus has three different tail styles: rottweiler, wolf, and snake (cobra) head. They don't have three tails...just three different tail styles, thus, on the lineart, I had to put all three of them. I have figured out that only the males have the snake-for-tail. The females can have either of the other two tail styles.
