Because heaven is present here on earth, though our consciousness needs some sort of a mediator. Someone to see the face of God and guide us to know his true nature, and open our hearts to bring grace flowing into our lives. Jesus did that once. But anyone else can receive the ordination to do the same. And we help each other, all of creation working taking care of one another; heaven and earth, seen and unseen.
