Cali the Cat
Cali the Cat by @chibiyoshi (Maile Adams)

This is my character Cali, which I created for my Sonic fanfic "Sweet and Sour." Its a Christmas story that I started writing a couple of years ago and still haven't finished... but I will! I vow I will! >.>

Funny story behind her conception... well first I decided to have one location in the story be a cafe. So I asked my friend for ideas for a name of the cafe. She said she'd always thought the "Calico Cafe" would be a cute name (I think she actually used that name for a project or something). So then I figured, with a name like that I might as well make the owner a calico cat. And I named her Cali for obvious reasons. XP

I initially intended her to only have a very minor role as the cafe owner, but as I wrote that chapter, she just... evolved. Now she plays a pretty key role, setting major events in motion and tormenting Shadow mercilessly. XP She's really blossomed into a wonderful character that I love. I swear she's taken on a life of her own. XD

This image was actually the last of several attempts I had made at designing her. I tried various hair styles, outfits, even faces. I wasn't satisfied with any of them and gave up for a while. Then one day a couple of weeks ago I came up with this and it just worked. o.O Didn't make her quite mischievous-looking enough, but meh, its just concept art. She's still very cute, I think. ^_^
