A lot of us dread being compared to other people, saying we either don't live up to them or have all their bad traits, but rarely do we think of those times when it's subverted.
I know someone who was in this kind of situation, they heard a teacher say something to a student along the lines of "why can't you be more like them" referring to the person I know, and the first time this happened they didn't know what to say, but the second time it occurred, they told the teacher they won't tolerate it because they wouldn't wish what they had to go through to become who they are on anyone, and thus they would never endorse some saying it's anyone's duty to be like them.
I see interactions like this and wonder where all the other people are in the world who wouldn't want people forced to live up to them. What do you do if someone uses you as a reference point that someone else should live up to (or not be told they're too much like, in some instances)?
