Tael was born a normal, happy member of the Driasha clan - nomadic hunters and masters of the Dria ("Great Plains"). As the years passed, he grew up to be a cheerful, strong young boy, talented in the ways of the hunt even at the age of 5. When he was 6, something happened that would change Tael's life forever. What appeared to be a rival clan of Catfolk, the Eliasha, attacked and destroyed his entire clan...his parents were murdered in front of his eyes. Through purest luck (for it was Fortuna, Goddess of Luck, that aided him that day), Tael escaped the wrath of the Eliasha. He found a new home in the human town of Ganshai, where he was adopted by an aging farmer and his wife. Tael spent the next ten years there, and learned much, for the townsfolk were enamored of the wild young Catfolk. Well, most of them anyway. OK, some of them hated him. But I digress. Somewhere around his 16th birthday, Tael's wanderlust finally got the better of him, and amid tearful farewells he left Ganshai. Though he had been the adopted son of a farmer, his hunting skills...especially his skill with a knife...had not been forgotten. He joined up, briefly, with a small band of mercenaries after he discovered they had been hired to attack a certain Catfolk clan - the Eliasha. And that's all so far. ^_^
