In the late 80s, Carlton also waved goodbye to the old closedown sequences. As 24 hour broadcasts was starting to catch on, various regional ITV stations kickstarted specific strands, with Carlton taking the relative more creatively-named After Hours.

Compared to the daytime ident, the opener here was much flashier and took the computer animation to the forefront with the texturized wordmark - perhaps a sign of newer things to come?
