I like this image. It carries that magical spirit of HP and Fawkes. I especially like the yellow aura in the background, it kind of subconsciously could remind you of how a phoenix rises from its ashes...

I also like how you used all sorts of different little colors to liven this up -- is there a 'true black' color outline in here? I don't think there waaas...

This is a beautiful picture! And don't worry, you're not the only one with a 'pathetic HP addiction..' my addiction to the series is probably amongst the worst. I really like the jeweled look of the sword, although I wish the picture was a bit more clear (did you use the blur tool on part of it?)

Re: Blur tool... lol yeh, this was something from what I call my "smear tool happy" period. I hadnt actually figured out how to paint on photoshop, so I colored stuff with prismacolors and then smeared it together. It made for really cool rich colors, but the lines aren't real sharp.
