Very pretty. The watercolours make the swallowtail seem very delicate. The wings are also very realistic. I do think that adding a background will give the painting more depth. Congratulations on a very admirable peice of work.

Your butterfly looks pretty good, but I notice that you only seem to have used black and yellow. Monarchs certainly are those specific colours, but butterflies' wings reflect a number of other colours as well, not to mention that it always adds interest when you use other colours to create the finished product. When you do observational paintings, try to look hard for others colours that aren't as obvious. Highlights from different parts of the spectrum can make a subtle, but very important difference in the finished product.
Just some friendly advice. Keep up the good work.
You did a great job on the symmetry of the butterfly. Can't wait to see the finished product.
