Son Goku and...uhh...Son Goku?
Son Goku and...uhh...Son Goku? by @dark_persian (Donna)

Ok, this picture needs a bit of an explanation for those who dont know what Saiyuki is. "Saiyuki" is the title of one of the greatest classical Chinese novels, usually known as "Journey to the West". Both Dragonball and Gensomaden Saiyuki is based on that novel. The main character is called Son Goku the Monkey King, thus the picture! Both of the Son Gokus!

I've been seeing a lot of the lesser known Son Goku lately, thanks for explaining where he came from. Kinda odd that we've got 2 anime Monkey Kings...anyway, this drawing is excellent, like all your others!

Wow! Great fanart! I love the way the DBZ Goku is pointing to the other one as if to say 'That's me too!'

According to the history of Dragonball, Akira Toriyama was inspired from Journey To The West. Originally, the monkey-king was named Son Wukong.

Really? Hmmm..that must have been the Chinese pronunciation of his name. I do know that the Japanese pronounce Chinese names differently. Well, so my Fushigi Yugi graphic novels tell me ^_^

Oh wow, this is TOO good! >D I've always wanted to see these two together, since everyone automatically assumes you mean DBZ's Gokou when you say the name Son Goku. Argh. About time someone did this, and in such STYLE!

Your drawing and colouring is magnificent ^_^

Oh yes...because I can't be bothered replying to a comment further up I'll put it here =D Chinese names are pronounced differently even though they're spelled the same way! XD My family name, 'Kuek', is but one variation of the same name. Apparently Kuek, Kwak, Kwok, Guo, etc etc are all the same name and character X_x; So I'd thoroughly believe that Goku is an interpretation of Wukong...

Worst part of it all is I can't speak a word of any chinese dialect, and only a few words in Japanese. beats head against wall Baka baka baka baka baka! See? >D

Okay, shutting up now.
