The Rainbow Bird
The Rainbow Bird by @denise (Denise Chan)

Another of today's batch of watercolours I liked enough to post. As you can see, I have trouble limiting my palette! grin

It's a good thing you didn't limit your palette. I love the mixture of colors. At first you're like, "Nice purply-blue bird," but when you look closer, it's not just a purply-blue bird, it's one with all the colors of the rainbow.

It's summer.. I don't have to sound smart. I know a first grader could've written what I just wrote. Anyway, the main point is that I really like this picture.

Thanks, glad you liked the colour-mixing! I think the saving grace is that I didn't mix enough colours to turn it all into muddy grey...now that would have been terrible. :)

It looks all bright an lively with all the color : D
hrmmm I think it gives 'em a lot of texture as well.

Thank you! :) Ah, texture...shape...lighting...so many things to consider when painting! Don't know why I still love to do it! ;)

No, NO, dear, this palette isn't garish at ALL! It has enough color to keep it interesting and lively (unlike my stuff, which tends to have a monochrome feel to it), but doesn't look like you were just using the entire crayonbox.

The watercolors--you're doing a bang-up job on them! {0-3 GO YOU!

Thank you for the encouragement, dear!

I'm trying for the duotone look in my watercolours, but I just have to take one look at all those marvellous shades available and I can't seem to help myself. Still, I managed to stop after three colours, so all is not lost - even if they were the primary colours. XD

Will HIDE the rest of the box, next time...
