Blaize
Blaize by @aeryaval (Aeryn Avalon)

Meet Blaize, prince of a tribe of Elven warriors, so-called because of his fiery red hair and golden eyes. The tattoo on his shoulder is a tribal marking, and the three stripes on his cheek indicate a high rank, much like stripes on American army uniforms. Done in watercolor, like most of my newer stuff, and based on a sketch that I did in about five minutes in Spanish class. What's surprising about this picture is that normally I can't draw guys OR profiles, yet this is both and it turned out much better than expected.

This is very beautiful, i really like the shading that you were able to do with the water colors. personally, i can't do crap with them. This is very nicely done, the proportions are very good, and all the shading is very smooth and clean. The hair is very much full of the expression a tribal leader named blaize would have. Also, the experession on his face, shows his worry, and compassion, and experience from leading a bunch of warriors. Very nicely done, great job.

Sincerely, Ikaika

Thank yoU! I'm very glad you like it. I like working with watercolors a lot. Once you get the hang of them, they're not so hard, and youc an achieve some really nice effects with them. Glad you like him! ^_^

Very beautiful painting. The shading is particularly lovely, though the proportions of his face could use a little work. Eyes are typically more vertically centered, and I think his ear should be back a little bit further. I'm just being a bit picky though, those two things don't really detract from the overall painting much.

Thank you very much. Yeah, I'm aware I"m not the best at facial proportions...something's always off. I'm doing my best to fix that, though. I'm very glad you like it! ^_^

This is a nice pic. The colors work really well and you have enough control of the medium to no dirty the colors, which is hard to do. Your facial structure an profile needs little work. though this is just my opinion. thin the head would work better if the forhead was at more of an angle and less verticle. The nose seems a little small to and the chin shouldn't be such a straight line. Also think it would be cool if the head band pulled the hair to the head instead of just wrappin around everything. seems like its floatin a little and it might add some weight. its Definitly is a nice pic without a doubt. The colors work nicely and even the stuff i mentioned i do myself too. looks really nice and keep up the good work.

PS, please check out some of my stuff, would like to get an opinion. Thanks and nice work.

Thank you. I appreciate the comment! ^^ Iknow my facial structure is off a bit, but like I said, I rarely draw guys and I almost never draw profiles. I defnitely need to work on that. Thanks for the advice, and I will be sure to check out your gallery. ^^

Erin, you know you're awesome, right? I absolutely LOVE this one, and you didn't even brag about it getting Moderator's Choice on Elfwood! Silly girl! It definetly deserves it, though--your use of color here is just fabulous. I really love the red, and the golden highlights give off a great sense of lighting. You really have such a great talent for character design--this guy really does have great accesories and such a story in his expression. You rock! I love you and you're pretty!
