Vigilance
Vigilance by @Alesyira (Alesyira)

This is the main part of a large piece I drew around summertime 03 for a fanfic by DelKaidin called Vengeance.

The character is the hanyou firstborn between Rin and Sesshoumaru, so I drew her basically looking like Inuyasha... but a girl.

I designed the dress by accident, but the arm spikes are something I've wanted to try drawing since I caught sight of my first Witchblade comicbook.

This one is my second straight CG'd (no pencil sketch prior) fanart piece, so I didn't have as much knowledge with textures, patterns and color effects as I do now.

Drawn solely in Photoshop 7 with my tablet.

And here I was thinking the character had some sort of Sango connection....the skintight black suit, I guess...

Pretty cool. Like the fact that you put a pattern on her bodysuit. And both arms came out nicely. The spikey stuff on the right arm as well as the part hand-cover on the left one. Very nice.

You are right about the Sango connection.

In Del's collection of fics, it tells how Rin dies giving birth to Leena (this character) and Sesshoumaru abandons her in grief and anger that she was the cause of Rin's death... So Inuyasha and Sango (who has, by this point, married Miroku) raise and teach Leena as a foster family. She learns taijya skills and gets her own battle suit, but one that matches her changing taste over the five hundred years that she wanders the world until 'present day'... The spikes and the sword are something that came with her attaining the powers of the 'Celestial Maiden'... a walking female war machine... Del has written a long line of great fics that all belong in the same AU setting, and it made for an interesting read that inspired some art. Here's a link for anyone interested in Del's fics, these are on MediaMiner.org.

The pattern was my favorite part, I did it before I learned how to use pattern brushes in Photoshop, so I did every swirly gold line and green vine by hand, picking where each one went. It was tedious, but satisfying to see the result.

Thank you for leaving a comment! Sorry it's such a long reply, I tend to get carried away with explaining stuff I'm fond of...
