Loki and Oolam by @equanox (Elizabeth Quandt)
Yes, unfortunately the majority of my work is just pencil drawing, like this one. But anyway...both dogs are characters of mine, and they are Newfoundlands (my favorite dog breed). The dog on the right is Oolam, a seven year old born in Scandanavia (I haven't decided the whereabouts as of now). He lived there for three years, serving on a fishing vessel until he was transported to North America (the exact location also undetermined as of now). He has a scar below the right eye and an anchor shaped scar on the right shoulder. Oolam was named after a Norse dog brought to the Americas by Leif Erikson. These Norse "bear dogs" may have been an ancestor of the modern Newfoundland.
The other dog (the one with the bone) is named Loki. Loki was named after the Norse god of chaos, I think, and he is a three year old dog who was living at the kennel where Oolam was sent. Loki often annoys the crap out of Oolam, being young and rambunctious, but they are good friends for the most part.
The two eventually escape into the surrounding wilderness. I am starting to write a story of their adventures. So, that's them. -_-
I know the eyes look kind of weird due to bad image resizing--and bad artistry :(
Welcome to Side 7. You certainly have a strong grasp of dog anatomy in your art and the details in this picture are nicely drawn. I especially like the variation in the fluff under Loki's muzzle. They are very cute and I look forward to seeing more art of these two.
