Bewitching Maiden
Bewitching Maiden by @fantasy_moon (Cassie)

It's Halloween and I thought it would be nice to have a picture for the holiday. I did try to draw a Yuugiou-based fanart, but it didn't come out as good. So as you can see I've settled for Keiko from the manga/anime Yu Yu Hakusho. I thought it would be cute to dress a bishoujo in a witch outfit. The only reference picture I used was for her head from the second volume of the manga.

Keiko was originally sketched in pencil and I used Open Canvas to CG her and add the background.

Keiko is so cute. I really like the way you've dressed her up here, it's adorable! You have definetly captured her cuteness very well. The purple dress is a shade too close to the background, though, making it either darker or lighter would help to bring her out a bit more. Her pose is so demure--it's very cute!

Heh, it probably looks obvious from this that I love the color purple. I see your point about the similarity though and will remember it next time I try something like it again. Thank you for the comment! ^_^

Anzu with the Yuugi-pumpkin didn't work out, eh? ^^

This is really adorable...I love Keiko's expression and stance, very modest and demure. The lighting is done nicely on her dress...maybe put a bit of highlighting on her hat (it's hard to shade black ^^; )?

I'm very attached to the background in this one...reminds me of a taffy I once had...XD

I tried Anzu, but the pose looked off... and so did the pumpkin for that matter. ^^;; Perhaps something to try again in the future.

I did have somewhat of highlight during one stage on the hat yet as you said it's hard to work with black. XD;; I even considered doing the hat a different color at one point. I think the coloring of pictures is more stress-inducing than the actual drawing. lol

The background was fun! I was messing with a similar one earlier in the week, which is what made me want to draw a witchy picture. Next time we're on AIM, I'll show it to you.

Thank you for the comment! ^_^ hugs

Keiko looks really kawaii here. ^_^ Her hair's slightly longer than what I'm used to, but I remember hearing that she started to grow it out. And the purple dress looks better on her than a black one probably would. ^^; She doesn't strike me as one to wear black, but then I haven't seen too much of her or the show she hails from. XD; I really love the background with its varying shades of purple and dark blue, and having Keiko's hair in pigtails was a good touch! ^^

I think her hair was rather pretty before the fire forced her to cut it so I decided to go with that one. ^^ I agree that a purple dress perhaps looks better, and I didn't want to have too much black in the picture. Saving that for my more morbid pieces. cough Thank you for commenting, Miss Ladybug! ^^
