raking leaves
raking leaves by @marla (marla deepali)

i can't believe i'm finally on side 7! i'm not a very patient girl. but now that i'm here, i thought, "gosh, what should i put up first?" well, todays thanks giving, and it is fall, so i decided to put up a very homey, family-like picture. i actually made this picture for my calender for the month of november, so guess this totally fits, huh? happy thanksgiving!

Welcome to Side 7! I hope you enjoy it here. This is definetly a great picture for fall--it's very cute! I am impressed with your character designs, and how well the details are drawn--like the wrinkles in the clothing, and the leaves. The poses are sweet, they make you wonder what they are saying to eachother--I love the leaf in the hair--it's a sweet touch! I would only suggest darkening this up a bit (there are contrast tools in some paint programs, I know Adobe has one) or you could try inking by pen. Color would be awesome--especially if it's a fall picture. Fall is full of colors, black and white just doesn't do it justice. Only other suggestions would be for a background, though I know those can be tough and take lots of time--a generic line showing the ground would be add something to this image, even just that. :) So good luck with your art and I hope to see many more future uploads from you!

thank you SO much for commenting. i didn't really think anyone would even look at my scant picture the first day it was posted, but i actually got a critique! yes, i agree, this was actually a quicky. and to be honest, i'm not very skilled in coloring and shading. i only draw=( but i guess it wouldn't hurt to try. i was going to have to learn to someday!
