A Splash of Color
A Splash of Color by @Jinx (Catherine Fitzsimmons)

Speedpaint. This image leaped into my head recently and, since I was bored this afternoon anyway, decided to bang it out. Took about an hour and a half to do it, spending a bothersome amount of time trying to get the feathers to look right, and I had to force myself to stop working on it. There's plenty I would do differently, given the time, but for a first try at this speedpaint thing, it's pretty much all I can do with it.

Very cool! I especially like the 3-D ness of the parrot himself. He really has some excellent shading, especially on the area under his chin. The background is very cool, but I think he needs something more substantial to sit on. It kind of looks like he's floating the way he is right now. And how about last night I had freaky dreams about birds? o.O Now you've gone and reminded me...

Yep, I wanted to give more definition at least to the branch he was sitting on, but I was already a bit over an hour by then, which was my initial time goal. I'm thinking of redoing this and putting time and effort into it. If I do, I'll do a better job with the background.
