The face looks amazing. The shading and highlighting was done very well, and the skin tones look very realistic. There's something not quite "right" about the hair though. It looks off somehow, and makes viewing this otherwise wonderful piece of art almost awkward. It seems almost as if the hair were just stuck on there, and doesn't give the illusion that it goes back on the left side around his head. There's no real depth on that side. The right side looks fine though. It may also be the amount of contrast on the left side, making it appear to come forward more, so the addition of a background may help that considerably.

Another thing I just noticed is the left eye looks a bit larger than the right, and doesn't appear to have exactly the same shape (which I know is difficult) The left side also appears a bit flat, though I'm not sure how that could be fixed.

The teeth also appear to be flat at the moment. A bit of shading would fix that, I think. Though it looks a bit like there isn't enough of a curve there, though that may be too late to fix. A tiny bit of shading on the whites of the eyes would also give them a bit more depth, but it also looks fine as it is.

It looks wonderful and I can't wait to see it finished.

Maybe I will add eyelashes, azian boys don't really have them. At least not very visible. Maybe a little. Sorry for the rant and thankyou for your comment!

This is looking really, really good. I agree with the comment about the hair--I think when you add the background, just be sure to make the hair stick out a little, like it's in front of it, rather than letting it either seem completely seperate from it, or blending into it. If that made any sense. o.O I am really impressed with how well you can shade and highlight--photo reference or no, being able to create like that is amazing. I also agree with shirley that some eyelashes might add a little to the picture--what you have here isn't bad, but a little bit more would bring them out. So, good luck and keep working on it! And in case no one else mentions it, that is one amazing ear.

As for the eyelashes I didn't know asians didn't have any. what I think may be missing is the eyelid not necessary eyelashes...Hope you don't mind me saying because I love your picture...Shirley
