Mourning Valkyries
Mourning Valkyries by @Lucky_Ladybug66 (Daisy Hunt)

From a role-play with Aubrie. Duel Monsters are loose in the city, and some Scandinavians invade with Norse magic items. Siegfried is possessed by the warrior Sigurd, and Sigurd gets him into quite a bit of trouble, including finding Nibelung's Ring and placing it on his finger. (To be fair, Sigurd thought the curses had been destroyed.) Anyway, to tell the whole thing would be to write a book. XD; Pegasus was affected by the curse and attacked Siegfried, trying to get the Ring. Then dragons busted in and there was a big battle. Siegfried's Valkyries helped battle them, along with Aubrie's characters Yaminah and Mina. When the battle is over, Siegfried is dying from serious wounds sustained when the dragons were repeatedly attacking him with their claws. He dies, and the Valkyries mourn. Since they are his Valkyries and not the same as the mythological creatures, they love him and call him Master. Their helmets/golden feather things were removed by them out of respect, as a note. I didn't just forget to include them. XD;

I especially like the affect of the crying Valkyrie in the corner. Most of them are trying to stay collected, but that one lost it. Only a few of his Valkyries were named on the show, so that one could be Dritte or one of the others. I decided Zweite is the pink-haired one in profile. I'm not sure which one is Erst. And I named one Schwertleite, from the list of Wagner's Valkyries. Brunnhilde, of course, is the blue-haired one.

Yaminah is frustrated. XD; I rarely draw other people's OCs, but I like how she came out. ^^ Mina, who seems to be becoming Siegfried's friend, is the short-haired blonde.

I didn't realize how well the blood would show up, so I really pressed the red pencil down. I couldn't see it too well upstairs, but I should have remembered that the scanner would accentuate it. Holy. . . . Well, the effect helps to demonstrate just how badly he was hurt.

... For some reason, I find the rose to be the most morbid part of the whole thing.

...okay, I really like this one. It almost makes me want to draw Siegfried with Valkyries. Almost. Maybe after all of my other projects are done (grrraaaaaaaaagh, I even have a pose idea! Back! Back picture-bunnies! Back until the others are finished!)

Wow, this is complex. Look at all the people and people-parts...I like the effect of having some of them only visible as hands and/or knees. If you'd tried to cram them all in there, it would've looked really crowded (unless you had some sort of massive canvas to work with)...and the different positionings look better, anyway. I like the way the picture's set up, but perspective-wise, it, uh, kind of looks like they're back on the infamous hill. Not sure what to do about that without interfering with the positionings, though...I think it has something to do with the Valkyrie-knees at the top, and three individuals at the bottom seeming to be at the extreme ends of the spectrum, as taking just two groups at a time looks only slightly-sloped, but all together becomes hill-time. (whee, listen to me make barely any sense!) I remember somebody on your LiveJournal saying you should've done the picture from a side-perspective, but I like this better, hill or not. Lets you get a lot more detail in.

I like the expressions, again (See Valkyries. See Valkyries angst. Angst, Valkyries, angst. Good girls.)...Yaminah sort of looks more annoyed than frustrated, though...like she's watching this all and thinking, "...well, crap." I like the other little blonde OC's expression and pose, though.

...and I don't think the blood looks too extreme. Blood makes quite a mess, after all, and the redness of it depends on whether it came from an artery or a vein, so...and it's probably morbid that I know that. Oh! For my random Paint-program tip, if you want to make spattery-looking blood, there's a spatter-brush in regular old Microsoft Paint that you can spritz around bloodstains. I've been practicing with it a bit. It's gorey good fun.
