Heyla! Thankyou very much for sharing your thoughts on this pic, it's appreciated muchly! ^^ I'm glad you approve of the colouring and composition, the time spent was worth it! ;) Hmm, I'd like to look in on more people's dreams if they involve birdies... ^__^ kicks the kid off the nice birdy and nicks his ride XD
Once around Yggdrasil by @zenphoenixa (Annabel Lee)
HOLEE CRAP this took ages to do....!! X__X But HOLEE CRAP it was damn FUN! :D Okay well, for starters this is a piece of gift art for Felabba, who is absolutely amazing for she took the time to comment constructively on every single deviation in my DeviantArt archive...! O__O;; Thus as a gift, I got her to request a pic - a golden haired kid riding a flying creature. Well you all know me, of course I picked a Phoenix. ;) And as usual, I went off on an enormous tangent and somehow dragged Norse myth into the whole she-bang... @o;;; I don't even know that much about Norse myth, so how did that happen? Is weird
Well, just based on a bit of what I do know, Yggdrasil is the World-Tree which spreads its branches across the universe. I figured that the sun would be at the centre of the tree, and I decided to throw in some planets while I was it, just hanging off the branches as... well, I dunno, fruit? @_o;; Munches on Venus XD Well, at the top of the tree sits an Eagle apparently, but HECK I wanted a Phoenix instead, so I sacked the Eagle from its job. :D I gave the newly recruited Phoenix rainbow plumage to fit in with Norse myth, in which a rainbow bridge leads the way into Asgard, or the home of the Gods.... did I get that right? @o
And on that note, the next time I decide to draw a rainbow by mouse and tablet, kick me REALLY hard. O___- That was pretty stressful, as you can see... the phoenix, boy, and tree were coloured with pencils yesterday, and today I coloured in everything else via computer. I was going crazy with all the clouds and lights and things, that was the really fun part. XD The kid probably can't be seen too clearly from a distance, but rest assured he's there! And yes, I'm aware that if the sun is that close and that big, the kid must be ENORMOUS, but this is supposed to be a dream, so anything goes! =P
Anyway, that should cover all the important details, so Felabba, enjoy your gift and thankyou so much again for the favour that you did for me. ^_^ Artwork © Copyright 2003 Annabel Lee
