I love this unit. Here's my impression of it. Notice the difference? After watching Eva, I decided to draw it from memory & what i would have liked it to be. Neon Genesis Evangelion(EVA) and Eva UNIT 01 is (c) to gainax.

I gotta say that I can tell the difference, but it's a different interpretation. Your take has the EVA looking obviously more like a robot (whereas in the beginning of the show, it was ambiguous as to waht they EVA was).
Nice technique and I like how you cut the picture where the neck starts to end and the shoulder begin.
