Beautiful!
Waiting in the Wings by @aodhnait (Kitty Ryan)
My sister, aged nine, in her stage make-up for The Nutcracker. An odd combination of hideous linework and rather pretty colouring. As usual, pencil and photoshop. I'm not entirely happy with the eyeshadow - it looks just too much like a bruise for my liking, and her forehead is too small. Feel free to comment and give a critique of your own. I had to comment on this picture, before even reading the description, because she looked like a ballet dancer to me--which I really love seeing--dancers are just so beautiful and elegant. I wanna be one. :;sobs;: Anyways, when I read that she really is a dancer, I had to smile! The stage makeup looks beautiful, as does the hair. I think the eyeshadow might actually not be dark enough, but that's about it. Her forehead looks a little awkward, but I don't do enough realism to know what exactly is strange about it... sorry. ;( I really love her expression--it's very mature for a nine-year-old! She definetly looks ready to step into her dance steps in front of an audience. Beautiful image!
sigh The joy of being able to dance...I have cerebral palsy, which basically means that as well as having two left feet, they're left feet that fuse. But my sister, now aged 13, is a phenomenally talented dancer, and a pleasure to draw. I'm very happy you could see she was a dancer before you read the description. Your fantastic interpretation skills again. grin
Thanks for the critique. I'm seriously considering re-drawing this, and your advice on the stage make-up is invaluable. The reason why her forehead looks so awkward is because it is /far/ too small for a human face that size. Too small, combined with my inability with photoshop with a mouse. Tablets make life so much easier... .
Hope to see you around!
