Unlike Dokeshi, he is a "live heretic" (rather than an undead one), although a common point between them is their uniquity among the wide and ill-defined category of creatures that is the heretic race. Unlike bred heretics whose origins are long-lost, such as goblins and devil-kin, they were not born as they are now; both of them used to be hemlin (human), and were warped by dark magic, causing their transformations.

Regardless of the cause, transformation into a heretic is irreversible. As men, both Ceratrol and Dokeshi were beautiful; as monsters, they are abominations.
