Oriental Dragon
Oriental Dragon by @StormyHotWolf88 (Carly Crawford)

This picture took me 8 and a half hours to do...non-stop ><;.. i think this is why my art doesn't really get too detailed... but anyway.. this is a long term inspiration from something in 6th grade me thinks... we were learning how pictures in chna and suc was done with a brush and ink right side up, not tilted like we hold pens. The style interested me but i couldnt realy try it til I got into calligraphy pens and inks. i drew this freestye without any pencil guidelines in ink with paintbrush. colored in watercolor paints

Very nice inking! I was so surprised to learn how you drew this with the Chinese brush techniques--my great aunt just bought me a book on Japanese Sumi-e painting, which is different but also Eastern, so... yeah. I don't remember where I was going with that thought. Sorry. ANyways. Watercolors, eh? O.O I'm quite amazed--the colors are extremely vibrant and not washed out at all--especially on those scales. The detail on the scales is absolutely amazing.

In some areas, you can tell where it was sketchy, but mostly, you cannot tell that you didn't have a planned out pencil under-drawing for this. I am truly impressed--ESPECIALLY by the lighting in the dragon's eyes. The only thing I would suggest is outlining his right claw better--the way it is now it sort of blends in to the scales on his body. Darkening it or outlining it more would improve it.

Did I mention I love the clouds?

Wow, you have a lot of time on your hands! That's very nice, I am a big dragon fan myself.

O_O

It is beautiful! The colouring and inking came out very nicely, too!

Wha do you mean your art isn't detailed? Look at all the scales! O__O This is great, especially the shading. I like how you colored the firey stuff on its back, with the black lines, but the colors don't always stick to them. It looks really cool. ^^ The only less good thing I could say is about its arms.. One seems to be higher on its body than the other. Apart from that... wow. ^^ Nice style for the clouds, too. Makes it look more oriental. And the cute little house by the river down there. ^__^ Nice detail. Did I mention I love the coloring and the shading? :D Awesome job!

My favorite feature of this picture are the dragons eyes. The scales around them are absolutely awsome. I can see the amount of work you put into this with the scales and such. I'm amazed that you used water color, if you hadn't said anything I would have assumed you used markers.

I think the lower legs look odd in this picture. The knees seem backwards and the lower the dragon goes, the more twisted he seems to become.
