The fishy painting is actually inspired by an actual painting I saw in my local Chinatown... the style is somewhat the same, but the fishes were different, if I remember correctly...
Chinese Gal by @boredslacker (Aki Tan)
The concept for this image was relatively straightforward, but the execution nearly killed me...... (@_@) The background was waaaay more complicated than I tot it would be, and although it might feel a bit cluttered, I felt I had to have them in to balance the image. Gomen...
So this is Chinese Gal, possibly contemplating how else she could have left out in her Chinese New Year preparations? You never know... :p Her costume is adapted from the traditional chinese qipao, and the various elements are stuff that are typically found in a Chinese home where I come from.
Chinese Gal herself is the usual pen ink copic, while everything else was totally done in Photoshop......

Your sense of Chinese style shows here, in very detailed form! It's so simple yet there is so much detail to look at! From the gemini sort of fish to the cherry blossom looking plant. It gives that awesome oriental look. You accomplished it well. I especially like her dress ^_^ ( i have a blue one like it!) and her hair. The dyed ends of her bangs compliment her outfit. Even though she is colored with the copics and the bg is computer rendered, it seems to tie together nicely.
I've been wanting to get a hand on some of those copic markers from some time now! They seem to be of good quality.
Copics are definitely of good quality, and by far the best quality markers I've ever used. :) :) :) Their disadvantages tend to be they're expensive, and also the smell. ( If I'm not wrong, they're oil-based instead of water-based ) Every time I use the markers, the thought of death-by-copic-inhalation comes to mind..... :p
Hail the Copics! I love her expression. She does look like she's trying to think of just one more thing to make her celebration perfect... The background turned out very nicely, actually. I'm quite impressed. I love the fishy painting in the background, too--it's all yin-yang, which is awesome. :)
