SD Riesz
SD Riesz by @smarle (Staci/Nadia)

I haven't drawn Riesz since 1999, which is pretty sad, since she's my second favorite SD3 character. I've tried drawing a couple of pictures with her in them since, but they weren't coming out too well. So I tried a super-cutified SD Riesz instead, and voila!

The hardest part of drawing her was her right hand and the spear. The spear was especially hard because all the rulers in the house were lost at the time, and it was hard to find some sort of straight edge, LOL, especially for the inking stage... I later realized that I messed up the bottom of her helmet... ^^;;;; Oooops...

I was kinda feeling bleh while I was coloring, so perhaps it looks a little messier than some of my other marker pics...? ^^;;; I used the white gel pen quite a bit more to fix lineart mistakes and add highlights. The white Prismacolor pencil got a lot of use for correcting coloring as well... ^^;;; I also had to edit some mistakes a bit in Photoshop, plus I forget to shade the spear shaft, so I wound up doing that with the airbrush and pen tool... ^^;; Plus the pink Prismacolor marker I have is really dark, so her skirt and "wings" are darker than they should be.

Despite all this stuff, she still turned out awfully cute, so I like... ^-^

Very cute, Nads. I remember seeing this in its lineart stage, and it's good to see you finished it. We're almost working about the same speed now, which is funny considering I used to whip at you for goldbricking so much.

The coloring is great, and I always thought that you did a really good job with markers. Now, get to work! I want to see 5 more of this quality by 10 PM or the rabbit gets it. Mwuahahahahaha.

Heh, I WISH I worked at your speed... ^^; But I'm trying to make myself work on pictures more often, so I guess that's something... ^^;;; Now, please be nice to the bunny! ;_;

Woohoo! Nadia, there's so much to love about this. ^_^ The colors, the shading, the pose, the cuteness! I really like the semi-SD style, it goes really well with the bright colors and bold shading you use. Great job with the anatomy -- the hands in particular! Aside from the slight messiness that you mentioned, I have no complaints. I could just see this next to a character profile in a video game manual. Cute, colorful, and wonderful!

Yeah, I was kinda imagining this as an SD profile pic! I'd like to do one of all the playable characters eventually, actually... ^-^

So cute! Interestingly enough, I just beat SD3 again this weekend with Riesz as the main character, so boy was I pleased to see this in the recent uploads yesterday. The shading is a little messy, yes, but forgiving that, it's nicely shaded. It looks just like her, I knew it the instant I saw the thumbnail. Love the pose and expression and you SDed her quite well. A little something in the background - even just a shadow under her - would help complete this picture, but it looks nice as it is. Good job!

Beautiful colors, excellent pose, and wonderful design throughout! If anything I would take a little bit of an issue about the way Riesz's legs look, but nothing more! I think they just look a bit thicker than her arms, but that's really only if I tend to look for things to comment on. Overall, though, it's a great work of art!

Legs ARE thicker than arms, though I do have a unique SD style, I think... ^^;;;;; Glad you like despite it! ^-^
