Junicorn 2022 #10 - Cervine
Junicorn 2022 #10 - Cervine by @fragmented_imagination (B Sanders)

"Equusvines are hybrids of a biological unicorn and Old World deer. These hybrids tend to pop up in most areas where biological unicorns (as in mammalian unicorns) and deer territory meet, mostly in forested areas. They tend to be smaller than unicorns but can be larger than their deer half and regularly have a coat pattern dominated by their deer half. Their antler comes in many different patterns with a couple important trends: the antler grows from the middle of their forehead and forms a blade-like structure that always follows the mid-line over the equusvine's head. Because they are sterile (no one is even sure if they have a biological gender; all known specimens have the antler), their antler is often prized by poachers, and local governments are forever having to restrict poachers due to the tendency to over-hunt equusvines. Equusvines present as incredibly skittish and lightning fast when a predator is perceived. However, when backed into a corner, a predator is going to find out the hard way what kind of damage that antler can do."

Well, I now know what "cervine" means.

I had an idea of how I was going to do this piece and tried to get a good start on it. Unfortunately, I still rushed through it. I probably could have done a little more with the legs; those were the trouble parts. I could also probably have tried doing the muzzle a little differently. Still, I'm a little surprised that this came out the way it did. It took a couple of Wikipedia references and some blending of properties, but I'm pleased with what I did.
