I know what you mean.... I think the figure looks like the ones by Henri Matisse... Really nice stuff you got there...

The style i believe you are thinking of is Post Impressionism and early Modernism and as nara vr mentioned, it has a feel very similar to the works of Henri Matisse. I have to say though, that i like this much better than Matisse. The anatomy is much more sound, there is a greater sense of depth and there is significantly more emotion here than in his works. Beautiful job.
