Munkustrap from
Munkustrap from by @KrisCynical (Kristin Bergh)

I was watching my DVD of "Cats" the other day and got the urge to draw my favorite cat, Munkustrap. I'm pretty proud of this since I didn't have reference for the pose.

Talking about a test of anatomy and muscle structure... oy.

Well, you did a cool job on the costume. Specially the fur guantlets and hte cut-off gloves. Anatomy looks good, 'cept on his left leg, which looks foreshortened wrong. Coloring more than makes up for it.

...Heh, I went to a dinner theater production of Cats last spring and spent the whole time looking at the costumes rather than 'watching the play.' No loss. I've got the soundtrack. But, Munkustap....Was he the lead singer of any of the songs? Or was he just chorus/backup?

If the soundtrack you have is the Original Broadway Cast recording, I feel very sorry for you because I have that one too and it sucks royally compared to the DVD. O.o

Munkustrap is like the narrator of the play... he's the lead in "The Old Gumbie Cat", has several small solos between major songs, sings most of the solo bits in "Old Deuteronomy" and is the lead in "The Awful Battle of the Pekes and the Pollicles" which is on the DVD but not the Original Broadway CD.
