Mermaids should have gills, otherwise they would drown. And having their top portions human would hinder them in the water. So I threw out flesh and lungs for fish scales and gills! Ariel woulda died with her anatomy. This mermaid, however, is much more feasible.

Wow.. shes beautiful! ^.^ I never really thought of all that stuff... But your right when ya think about it!

Tis a cool picture though! She looks very unique and pretty too. I love the coloring you've done and her preportions are very well done.

I agree, mermaids should display aquatic features all over their bodies. The webbed fingers are great!
