Etherrawen, the Cloud Dragoness
Etherrawen, the Cloud Dragoness by @Illucian (Cody Spaid)

A little Oekaki image done to welcome Etherrawen back to online-ness after a move. She's a real sweety of a dragon. Since she's a cloud dragoness, I obviously had to depict her flying through a lazy cloudy sky. Etherrawen is © herself, art is © Cody Blair.

UHHHHHH... Overall concept is nice, but i dont think that is all due to this artist, i was just perousing the pages here and noticed this poor, awfully rendered rip of another artists work. here is the page of the original : http://www.side7.com/cgi-bin/S7SDB/DisplayImg.pl?INO=162150

the artist is Ahkahna, who has a lot of incredible artwork under her belt, and i think this very low quality rip is an insult sorry pal. maybe you should stick to ripping off stick figure drawings

i too have seen ahkahna's magnificent artwork and individual style and i think she deserves the respect to at least be mentioned in your caption.

To the above: I had never heard of Ahkahna, nor seen the image in question. Etherrawen is a friend of mine, and when she recently returned from being offline for a move, I had the idea to do an image of her in return for one she'd done for me a few months ago. I used Etherrawen's own images as references for her coloration, and I thought it was logical for a Cloud Dragoness to be set against a cloud-strewn sky. I assure everyone that it was merely a case of coincidentally similar poses of the same subject matter. My work was done on Oekaki with no knowledge of the image Ahkhana had done.

Well, now, people. The Character in both pictures IS the same, but it doesn't belong to either artist. Simply because of that it has to look similar. And this pose is as generic as a flying dragon's pose can get, don't you think? I advise you to look a bit closer at the images, then you'll see that the picture isn't copied. It's nice to see people aware of copyright, but paranoia is just producing unneccessary conflicts. ~Hosea www.kittomer.com

snorts wow, it's a winged creature, flying, with a bright blue clouded sky in the background! imagine that!

if it WASN'T the same character, would you still accuse of stealing? this is a pretty standard pose that i've seen numerous times before on all manners of work.

-it's a very cute image, Luxie; i like the blue wings.

coughs And I just wanna add that snarky insults do not add credibility to your claims, even if the claims are true, which they aren't really. It's a generic pose on a generic background, I'm sure thousands of other artists have done it before. Hell, even I've done similar paintings to these two.

:o makes note to self to never do another picture of a winged critter flying in the sky I better take down that pic of Stormfyre flying I posted the other day...

the first two people need to disassociate their craniums from their rectal cavities. I vouch for Cody's integrity and honesty, having known her far longer than either of you two reactionist wankers.

Go host your witch hunt somewhere else kiddies.

This is, of course, to the first two commentors, who are accusing Cody of art theft..

Remind me to draw a dragon-like creature flying in the air, with some clouds and a blue sky within the background. Oh wait, I've already done such a drawing.

Hopefully you're not implying that every flying dragon is copyrighted to Ahkahna.

Might I also mention that the positioning of the legs, and the overall body shape are not directly the same as the picture you think she copied.

Perhaps you should go elsewhere to make your false little accusations.

The two images don't appear to have a single line in common--and even if they did, certainly not enough for Ms. Blair's image to qualify as copyright infringement. Furthermore, such matters aren't your responsibility to pursue. Next time, please contact the artist you think is being ripped and have her/him deal with it if they decide that there is indeed a problem. So, Matthew and Unakavierde, do I need to post a line-for-line comparison for you, or do you now realize that you were a little quick to judge?

I think she did very well with this pic. n.n Oekaki is very hard to draw on, and I know this, c'os I do it a lot. And if Illucian says she didn't know the other artist was there, then she didn't. So nyeah. Childish people. :P

This comment is directed to -Matthew- and -Unakavierde- who left those terrible and very ignorant comments.

Etherrawen is a friend of many of us and a wonderful person. Her dragon character is copyrighted to herself, Michelle.

Some friends actually draw pictures for each other (Ever heard of that?). Obviously Ahkahna and Cody both did pictures of Etherrawen for Michelle . . . Neither knew of the other's picture.

Besides, one using draw a -flying- creature in the air with some type of -sky- background. You are such a stupid, ignorant, rude, and highly incompetent person to blantly accuse anyone of infringing copyright. Cody and Ahkahna's pictures do not even remotely look similar. And you should apologize for that comment about stick figures.

hugs Cody

Alright now settle down. This problem has been dealt with and this crazy ranting can come to a hault. I know both of these commenters and they obviously felt that the picture I did was copied to a degree by Illucian. I as well had a thought myself at first, considering I was one of the first on side7 to put Etherrawen in the air. I came to the conclusion that inspiration could have been a starter for this and I am not at all bothered by the fact that Illucian made the image. Now, We can stop calling my friends ignorant, stupid, and all the rest. They as well as I had a thought, although of course one spoke his mind a little more and was a tad more rude. Good day, good night, and if it continues I'll be forced to eat pets. grins
